With an average of nearly 300,000 monthly searches on Google related to superstitions, popular beliefs remain deeply rooted in , assures Top10desCasinos.com, which has drawn up a ranking of the most superstitious departments. And in this game,Occitania is particularly focused on good (and bad) fortune.

With Google Analytics, the study identified where we carry out the most monthly searches related to superstition (whether for good or bad omens)adjusted everything according to the number of inhabitants. And finally established a “superstition score” out of 10.

Lozère haunted by the Beast

It is Haute-Corse which takes first place nationally with a score of 9.90 out of 10. But just behind, there is… Lozère. With a score of 9.79/10. The 913 monthly searches around positive superstitions are, for example, 40% more numerous there than in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. Its 848 monthly searches on bad omens are clearly behind Haute-Corse. However, compared to Creuse, Lozère records nearly 22% more lucky beliefs, notes the study.

“In Lozère, the legend of the Beast of Gévaudan continues to captivate the imagination, with more than 500 monthly searches. This mythical creature, which sowed terror in the 18the century, remains a subject of important local interest,” assures the study.

Ariège also has its Beast

Note that another Occitan department appears in the national Top 10. Tied with Haute-, Ariège also has a score of 9.04/10. ” Between the legendary Beast of Naguille in the Orlu valley, the evil witch of Lake Bethmaleand the beneficent fairies of local stories, Ariège is deeply influenced by its beliefs and superstitions,” the authors of the study want to believe.
