Two cars burned, the same night (that of Monday October 28 to Tuesday October 29), each belonging to an educator from the US Colomiers Football school. It's too much for the club, which has decided not to play any more until November 11. “What happened, we consider that it is above the sporting results, which is why we decided to put ourselves on standby” declares the president, Florian Aït-Ali. A decision supported by the Occitanie Football League, and the district of Haute-Garonne, who provided their support by press release.
“An unacceptable act”
The president of Colomiers is very clear: “People need to understand that it is not possible to do that. To date, an investigation is obviously underway, but the concordance of events suggests that this could be an act born from the frustration of not seeing one's child retained during a match. Parents must understand that it is not possible to react like that.” Florian Aït-Ali adds: “today, it is certain that we cannot accommodate everyone. We hear here and there that the club is elitist, but we have partnerships with other nearby clubs so that everyone can play.”
The parents of the young people at the football school were warned to this decision to cancel training and matches until November 11. “Thanks to the league and the district, we will not be penalized either sportingly or financially by fines, they support us and ensure that the matches that we have decided not to play are postponed later in the calendar“, explains Florian Aït-Ali.
Educators want to stay at the club
Shocked by what happened to them, educators, in good health, nevertheless declared to their president that they wish to continue to exercise their functions. “Obviously, that's the first thing I asked them, after hearing from them, because it could have ended very badly, especially since the fire in one of the cars spread to the house of one of them, who had to evacuate with their children” says Florian Aït-Ali. There is currently no prize pool planned for educators, “moreover already supported after these disasters.” But Florian Aït-Ali insists and concludes: “today we are in a society of immediate consumption. But everyone must learn to manage their frustration, because it is not possible to go to such extremes, football must remain a game, everyone must understand that.“
US Colomiers received support from other football clubs of the region, “they too are victims of acts of violence“, in addition to bodies like the League and the District.
