Gard. This highly anticipated festival has started: several global stars have been announced!

Anticipated by several tens of thousands of music lovers, the 2024 edition of the festival Nîmes (Gard) began this Friday, May 31, 2024, in the Arena.

Like every year, artists from all over the world will stop off in the Arena of the ancient city. This year, a sacred beast music inaugurated this new edition.

As it happens, Eric Clapton occurred on the grounds of Gard around 9 p.m., this Friday, May 31. All tickets for this unique concert in Occitania were sold in less than 96 hours in November 2023!

The show offered by the English guitarist was the kick-off royal at this musical event launched in 1997, in the capital of Gard.

Until Saturday July 20, no less than 20 other concerts will be played in the Nîmes Arena.

A precise organization

Just a few days after a historic Feria of Pentecost in Nîmes, the Gard site has since been the scene of an incredible metamorphosis. In less than 10 days, a huge stage was installed in the heart of the ancient site, where a few days before Bulls were the center of all attention.

Recently questioned on the subject, Frédéric Pastor, deputy for festivities alongside Jean-Paul Fournier, at the city of Nîmes, recognized that this transformation constitutes “a real challenge which had to be taken up.”

4 “sold out” shows

Even before the first guitar chord played on Friday May 31, 4 shows including that of Eric Clapton are no longer accessible at all at the ticket office.

In addition to the British virtuoso, the planned concert of the groups Dionysos and Shaka Ponk on Friday June 14. The next day, the evening dedicated to the legends of French rap who are I AM And Mc Solaar is complete.

For fans of French rap, there are still precious tickets on sale for the Toulousains concert Big Flo and Oli. The two brothers will set the ancient city ablaze on July 20. On this occasion they will close the 27th edition of the Gard festival.

Historical forecasts

It was a little less expected. And yet. The young French rappers who are Dadju and Tayc will perform next Thursday, July 18. This show constitutes the fourth, 21 concerts planned this year, to be sold out!

Among the most anticipated concerts in the coming weeks, that ofAvril Lavigne (Wednesday July 10) has not yet refueled. There are still places on sale.

Even before the first concert begins, initial forecasts on attendance at the 2024 Nîmes festival are mentioned. The elected Gard Frédéric Pastor is counting on a new record with 185,000 spectators in total for this 27th edition. The current record is at 175,000 music lovers present in the Arena of Nîmes.
