If for François-Xavier Bellamythe head of the list, and Les Républicains, the issues of European elections are crucial, for Vincent Leglantierwhich appears in 55e position on this list ofMEP outgoing, it is “about representing the world of viticulture in this election.” Interview with the one who irritates the mayor of Sézanne through four questions.

Le Pays Briard: You are present on François-Xavier Bellamy’s list: how and why are you present on this list?

Vincent Léglantier: François-Xavier Bellamy and my political family have chosen to put together a list that can best represent the French, in their professional, geographical and political diversity. Indeed, our group is a union list which goes from the traditional right of the Republicans to the center with the New Center, the party to which I belong. In addition, we have a real diversity of profiles and experiences. Our first five candidates reflect the diversity that makes us strong. François-Xavier Bellamy is experienced in politics and in particular the functioning of European institutions as an outgoing MEP. Céline Imart is a farmer. Christophe Gomart is the former commander of our army’s special forces. Isabelle le Callenec is a local elected official, mayor of her town, and Laurent Castillo is a surgeon. We therefore know the world of work and our territories. There are the women and men who make up the list, but there are also the ideas, and only the program defended by our group truly meets the expectations of our compatriots with concrete and pragmatic measures in line with the competences of the European Parliament. . Where the RN and LFI are trying to “nationalize” these elections by taking advantage of the weakness of the program of the list supported by Emmanuel Macron and his head of the list, Valérie Hayer who is no longer able to hold a meeting without the Prime Minister come to his aid, we are committed to the French to best represent their interests for a powerful France within a strong Europe.

We must protect our farmers and help them produce

Vincent Leglantier

LP B.: Do you represent a socio-professional corporation?

V. L.: As a winegrower, elected in my sector and in agricultural unionism, I think I best represent the expectations of our profession which represents more than 500,000 jobs in France which generates more than 6 billion euros in tax revenue for the State every year. Today, we have on one side the list of Valérie Hayer with Pascal Canfin [ Pascal Canfin est le président de la commission Environnement et Santé au Parlement européen, NDLR ] in 4th place whose dream every day is to invent new standards and new constraints for our farmers. And on the other, Jordan Bardella and the RN, therefore, the objective is to set up an ultra-protectionist system, which would be a catastrophe for French agriculture which is very largely exporting with a net trade balance of 4 Billions of Euro’s. We must protect our farmers and help them to produce, enhance their income through the Common Agricultural Policy, reduce European Union standards, eliminate French over-transpositions which are added to European standards and allow them to compete with their competitors thanks to the implementation of mirror clauses.

LP B.: How are you participating in this campaign?

VL: In addition to the classic leaflets, boxes and poster collages, I had the chance to represent our list and defend our program during several public meetings, such as the last one organized by the FNSEA in Metz. On June 6, I am organizing, with Nathalie Colin-Oesterlé, an outgoing European deputy from our list, a day on the theme of viticulture near Épernay in the presence of elected officials from the sector, winegrowers and winegrowers in order to to raise as best as possible the expectations and grievances of the agricultural world. 55th on our list, my chances of joining the European Parliament are more than slim, the fact remains that it is a wonderful experience. Furthermore, I am convinced that our group will prove wrong the polls which currently give us around 8% and that we will manage to create a surprise on the evening of the results by crossing the 10% mark. Many people have been able to rediscover the qualities of our group and of François-Xavier Bellamy, macronism is no longer effective and work always pays off.

LPB: Do you benefit from local support and if so, what?

VL: Of course, we received the support of many elected officials, such as the deputy LIOT Charles de Courson whose honesty and hard work no longer need to be presented, Julien Valentin, vice-president of the Department and great connoisseur of agricultural sectors. In addition, many independent mayors of rural communities have expressed their support to us, because they clearly see the probity and convictions of François-Xavier Bellamy and our group.

Result of this one-round election this Sunday, June 9 from 8 p.m.
