An unusual accident took place this Tuesday late afternoon in Glanges, in Haute-Vienne, according to France Bleu Limousin. While walking on private land, a carriage pulled by two horses suddenly overturned, throwing the six passengers to the ground.
Four of them were injured in the incident, including a woman suffering from serious pelvic injuries, who was immediately rushed to Limoges University Hospital for intensive care.
The scared horses
The incident occurred around 5:15 p.m. when, for an as yet undetermined reason, the harnessed horses became frightened, causing the carriage to suddenly turn around. The passengers were thrown from the shock, and one of the horses is said to have turned around, causing another collision with one of the victims on the ground, a woman requiring urgent intervention.
The three other injured people, two elderly men and a female passenger, were treated on site by the Haute-Vienne firefighters, before also being taken to the Limoges University Hospital. The gendarmes secured the scene of the accident to allow safe evacuation and understand the exact circumstances of this rare incident in the region.
