Start of renovation work in the city center – Le Petit Journal

Extensive beautification work over several phases Credits: Municipality

The renovation of the city center began this Monday, June 3, on rue des Carmes. This ambitious project aims to revitalize the city center with pedestrian areas on Place de la République and adjacent streets, thus providing a more pleasant living environment for all its residents. The works include: – the widening of Square Jean-Moulin; – the repair of the retaining wall; – the renewal of the roadway until the end of June and the relocation of public toilets. Rue des Carmes will be cut between Rue Jean-Durroux and Place de la République but access to the Mercadal will be maintained via Rue Boulbonne. Access to Place des Trois-Pigeons will be made without change via rue Jean-Durroux. Pedestrian traffic and access to businesses will therefore be maintained throughout the duration of the work, ensuring little disruption for residents and visitors. After the variously appreciated work on Place Milliane and the conclusive discovery of the canal in Loumet, this new phase of work aims to continue to beautify the public space. Information regarding this work: Maison du Cœur de Ville, 5-7 rue de la République. Open in the morning on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday as well as Wednesday afternoon.
