SENEGAL-AGRICULTURE-APPUI / Toubacouta: the Sococim foundation provides funding of 4.480 million for the extension of the Foroba farm – Senegalese press agency

Sourou (Toubacouta), May 31 (APS) – The Sococim foundation has granted funding of 4 million 480 thousand CFA francs to the Foroba farm for the extension of its market gardening area with a view to increasing agricultural production.

This agroecological farm has an area of 3.5 hectares. In an area of 1000 square meters, tomatoes, peppers, radishes, among other crops, are grown.

“I bought the farm in 2020 and we started production with chili and okra. Which encouraged the desire to continue. And today, we sell in the surrounding markets,” explained Adjaratou Koss Faye, the founder of the Foroba farm.

She indicated that funding from the Sococim foundation will allow the extension of the farm, the installation of a 1,000 square meter greenhouse, the acquisition of irrigation equipment and inputs for off-season production.

“We are going to focus on four flagship products, namely chili peppers, peppers, strawberries and papaya,” added Ms. Faye, specifying that production will be 100% organic.

The general administrator of the Sococim foundation, Patricia Diagne, maintained for her part that the Foroba farm corresponds to the target sought by its structure.

“It is a company that creates value through its production, contributes to food security and better consumption. All speculations are produced without fertilizers and without pesticides,” she said.
