Pierrefonds-Roxboro | Two bridges adjacent to the A13 urgently closed after cracks discovered

The discovery of cracks on the Pitfield twin bridges, which border Highway 13 in the Pierrefonds-Roxboro borough, is forcing their closure for an indefinite period.

The closure of these two bridges, which connect Gouin and Henri-Bourassa boulevards passing over the Bertrand stream, announces “mobility issues”, indicates the City of Montreal, in a press release.

In fact, two projects having an impact on mobility are already underway in the sector: on Boulevard Gouin, between Toupin and Wood, and on Boulevard Henri-Bourassa, between Pitfield and Félix-Leclerc.

Motorists are invited to use the following detour route (green arrows on the map): Gouin Boulevard to Sunnybrooke, then Highway 40 eastbound to join the A-13.

“This preventive closure follows a general inspection which highlighted an evolution of the cracks present on the two structures,” explains the City. Additional investigations will be carried out over the coming days in order to analyze the options and preferred scenarios.”

A detour via Gouin Boulevard to Sunnybrooke, then Highway 40 eastbound to join the A-13, is suggested to motorists transiting in the area.

A police presence will be deployed on this marked detour to ensure compliance with the bans in force on the two bridges. The mobility squad will also be present on the ground to facilitate travel and ensure the flow of traffic in this sector, indicates the City of Montreal.

Note that Highway 13 as such is in no way impacted by these closures.
