The Official Journal has just published the list of municipalities classified in “state of natural disaster”, following the passage of storm Kirk. The victims have 30 days to make their declaration to their insurance companies.

A decree published on October 26 in the Official Journal recognizes the state of natural disaster for 71 municipalities of Essonne, 132 municipalities of Seine-et- and 75 municipalities of for the period from October 8 to 13, 2024. The name of the municipalities concerned can be consulted in this document (pages 58 to 83).

This decision is motivated by “the abnormal intensity of the phenomenon during the event…, characterized with regard to the cumulative precipitation combined with the state of water saturation of the soil which favored runoff“, mentions the document.

The passage of depression Kirk on October 9 caused heavy rainfall in the Ile-de-France region. According to Météo-France, 70 mm of rain was recorded in 24 hours at the -Montsouris station, a record. Only the day of October 17, 1920 had more precipitation with 74 mm.
