Line Renaud never had children but she became pregnant in 1948, when she had just celebrated her 18th birthday. Unfortunately, the man who will become her husband, Loulou Gasté, does not want her. “I was not sufficiently established in Loulou’s life to impose, to want and to say: “I want”“, she remembers. So, the young Line Renaud decides to have a clandestine abortion. At that time, the operation was not legal in France. “All I remember is that everything is black. We went up a flight of stairs. I arrived in front of a woman who came with two knitting needles. She pierced, I bled. And there you have it“, she succinctly tells the journalist.
