Checks on the fairness of foodstuffs, and in particular the search for deception or misleading commercial practices relating to their origin, are carried out throughout the year by investigators from Competition, Consumption and Fraud Repression. (CCRF) of the Gard Departmental Directorate for Population Protection (DDPP), as part of planned national tasks or following complaints/reports from consumers and professionals.
In the current context of the agricultural and wine crisis in Occitanie and in order to support the sector, the DDPP
Departmental Directorate of Population Protection du Gard has strengthened its controls, notably:
- a “punch” action on wine fairs organized by supermarkets during the month of September;
- a check of the Cévennes apple and sweet onion fair, which took place this Sunday, October 20 in Vigan.
More than 20 checks were carried out on producers, sellers on roadside stands around the fair, and other stands selling food products.
Of all the checks carried out, only a few minor anomalies were noted.
