For their first round in the Coupe de France, the senior boys of Saint-Affrique handball (SAHB) play this Saturday, October 19, at 9 p.m., in Carmaux, in Tarn. In the championship, the Carmausins play in Regional Excellence, one level below the Saint-Affricains. “We have already faced Carmaux in the past because the team was in the Prenational” comments Quentin Bosc, the SAHB captain.
“We also played a friendly match against them at the start of the season. Carmaux plans to return to the Pre-National. This match should allow us to work on the shortcomings that we had in our last defeats. The girls are moving to Rignac
The SAHB senior girls’ team is also playing this evening in the Coupe de France. They travel to Rignac for a match at 7 p.m. against the local team. In the championship, the two teams play in the Pre-National. “At the start of the season, we played a friendly match against Rignac and we won by a fairly large score,” notes Patrice Croquelois, the Saint-Africa coach. “Our goal is to qualify for the second round of the cup. The group will be almost complete.”
The yellow and blue will have the reinforcement on the floor of Camille Cros who was the goalkeeper of the senior girls’ team last season. “The French Cup is an interesting competition,” underlines Patrice Croquelois. “Because it’s a direct elimination match. We have five return matches left in the league and I consider that they are direct elimination matches. We will have to approach them as such if we want to qualify for the upper group. Currently the girls are smiling on the pitch. They enjoy playing and participating in training. I have confidence in the group.”
In a different register, the Saint-Affrique handball club is organizing the handball ball this Saturday evening, from 10 p.m., in the village hall. It will be hosted by DJ Alski. Entrance €5.
