An unmissable Sunday event for some spectators. The France 2 show, “The Day of the Lord”will be broadcast from the municipality of Souvigny in Allier this Sunday October 20. The oldest program on French television will celebrate mass from the Sanctuary of Peace, within the priory church of Saint-Pierre and Saint-Paul.
The faithful of the church will be able to attend, on site, the holding of the mass broadcast on television. It will be filmed from this sanctuary characterized by a style that is both Romanesque and Gothic. Every year, it welcomes many pilgrims since it is located on the route to Santiago de Compostela.
The preacher will be Brother Franck Dubois, Dominican. The mass will be presided over by Father Pierre Marminatpriest-rector of the Sanctuary of Peace in Souvigny.
A shoot organized well in advance
To welcome the France Télévision teams, it was necessary to put together a file over several months. At least a year in advance, the church had to submit a request to film the mass. Reports are recorded several months in advance to be broadcast on the Sunday of celebration.
Then everything takes place in the last three days before the big day. The installation of the technical teams takes place on Friday. Rehearsals take place on Saturdays. And Sunday is the big day to broadcast mass live. Every Sunday, “The Lord’s Day” brings together more than 800,000 viewers.
