With more than 6,500 ducks already adopted (out of 30,000), the third edition of the Duck Race organized by twelve Rotary clubs from Puy-de-Dôme is looking good. While waiting for the big day, July 7 in Cournon-d’Auvergne, the organizers are working hard to beat their record.

Already 6,719 ducks adopted (as of Tuesday May 21) out of the 30,000 available. For the third edition of the charity bath duck race which will take place on Sunday July 7 in Cournon-d’Auvergne, the twelve organizing Rotary clubs are more mobilized than ever.

“Despite the difficult economic situation, the interest of the general public has not weakened in this project, nor that of our sponsors, almost all of whom have been renewed for this edition. We are on the same sales pace as the first two editions, 2019 and 2022 , perhaps because there has been no inflation in the price of our ducks!”, explains Nicolas Ferrand, member of the Royat Rotary Club and PuyCanard 2024 project manager.

Until the day of the race, many volunteers from the Rotary club will set up stands at local events throughout the department to have the ducks adopted (€3 each).

Five associations supported

The funds collected will support several associations: the UNICEF France emergency fund which provides humanitarian aid to child victims of war or major natural disasters; the pediatric cancer center at CHU Estaing and Acte Auvergne to make the hospitalization environment for sick children more welcoming; the Agoraé student solidarity grocery store in Clermont-Ferrand to renew its furniture and equip an extension; Word of mouth for Athénaïs to finance the costly operation of a little girl with an ear malformation.
