The entire center of the village of Kédange-sur-Canner (Moselle) was drowned in floods. Four days later, the cleaning continues. This car that is being evacuated belongs to Chantal, whose garage was flooded. “I have lived in Kédange for more than 60 years, I have never seen that, one meter in the space of half an hour, three quarters of an hour”she laments.

We barricaded ourselves even more than last time.

A resident of Sierck-les-Bains (Moselle)

“It never ends, it’s heavy”, launches in the TF1 1 p.m. video at the top of this article, the village mayor, Jennifer Haensler. Despite fatigue, she continues to coordinate the evacuations of thechets, also hoping that the storms announced this week will remain limited after a weekend of great mobilization. “There are between 150 and 200 people who came to help out, between Saturday and Sunday, as well as yesterday. But today everyone has returned to work, that’s normal”declares the elected official.

In Sierck-les-Bains, residents also went to work, taking care to barricade their garage or house doors, fearing further rain. “It started at five in the morning, now it’s calming down but we are under complete surveillance, day and night,” indicates a resident. No one here wants to relive Friday, with a small stream transformed into a torrent of water and mud. At Philippe’s, he crossed the entire ground floor of his house before taking away a retaining wall. “We barricaded ourselves even more than last time”, he said. And for good reason. Further rain is expected in the afternoon before a lull which will facilitate clean-up operations.
