The Church’s call for “a Senegal of peace and justice”, on the occasion of the Marian pilgrimage of Popenguine, and the Interministerial Council devoted to the preparation of exams and competitions are on the menu of the daily newspapers received on Tuesday. Senegalese Press Agency (APS).

”The appeal of Monseigneur Benjamin Ndiaye” for the promotion of peace and justice, displays on the front page of Le Soleil.

The newspaper reports that during the official ceremony of the Marian pilgrimage of Popenguine, celebrated Monday, in the presence of the Minister of the Interior, the Archbishop of Dakar launched an appeal for ”a Senegal of peace and justice”.

The daily also highlights that during the solemn mass, the Bishop of the diocese of Thiès, André Guèye, prayed for ”a Senegal of peace and prosperity”.

Sud Quotidien notes that Monsignor Guèye urged the populations to ”change behavior for a Senegal of peace and justice”, convinced that ”there cannot be true justice without peace and truth, love , forgiveness and reconciliation”.

”Popenguine launched a message of peace and justice this Monday,” according to the daily Bës Bi.

”Monsignor André Guèye called for +a change in behavior for a Senegal of peace and justice+. The Bishop of Thiès, in fact, presided over the solemn mass during this 136th edition of the Marian pilgrimage. +For justice and peace, we need humility and courage, and above all we must accept each other in our differences of all kinds and decide to go in the same direction, agree to radically change our behaviors and our mentalities+, he declared,” reports the newspaper.

Peace and justice were at the heart of the sermons on the occasion of the celebration of the Marian pilgrimage, according to Le Quotidien.

In L’Observateur, the Bishop of the diocese of Thiès, André Guèye, invites us to ”renounce everything that can weaken peace and justice”.

The same newspaper returns to the Interministerial Council devoted, Saturday, to the preparation of exams and competitions. L’Obs reports that during this meeting, Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko discussed the challenges to be met and linked to school programs, civil status and the remuneration system in the public service.

According to Vox Populi, ”Sonko attacks the remuneration system”. ”There are balances linked to hierarchies, to ranks, to functions that must be respected. Once you disaggregate them, you create a situation that we are experiencing today and which is catching up with us,” declared the Prime Minister.

”We must have the courage to return to a sincere and serious discussion on the issue to clean up and definitively stabilize this issue,” added Mr. Sonko, whose comments were reported by Vox populi.

For Le Quotidien, Ousmane Sonko ”wants to bring order” to civil status and remuneration in the civil service
