Last Friday, in Evin-Malmaison, in Pas-de-, a bailiff and his three companions were the target of fire from the man from whom they came to carry out a seizure. Aged around forty, the man was sentenced to a prison sentence, we learned from the Béthune public prosecutor’s office.

The bailiff, now called the justice commissioner, two colleagues and a locksmith showed up at the home of a couple living in this town located near Hénin-Beaumont. But they were immediately attacked by the man, who insulted them before brandishing a handgun.

An “airsoft-type handgun”

Faced with the individual, they fled, taking refuge in their vehicle to leave the scene. But the man fired several times in their direction, hitting the rear window of the vehicle which shattered under the impact. According to the prosecution, however, no one had “suffered bodily harm”.

The man was immediately arrested and his weapon was seized, an “airsoft-type handgun”, specifies the Béthune prosecutor. At the end of his police custody, the accused was referred for an immediate appearance on charges of “violence with a weapon”, “threats of death against a ministerial officer”, “insults against a person responsible for a public service mission” and “degrading the property of a ministerial officer in order to influence him”.

The Béthune court sentenced the forty-year-old to 24 months in prison, six of which were suspended for two years. He was kept in detention. In addition to paying the sums owed to the Public Treasury for which he was subject to seizure, he will have to pay damages, the amount of which has not been specified, and a fine of 400 euros.
