RESEARCH – Last July, a group of siblings buried one of their members in the Lourches cemetery, in the North, before discovering that the coffin of their mother, who died in 1983, was missing from the family vault.

The family was “in shock”. It was his father who subsequently made the concrete formwork above the coffin. The latter, also deceased, cannot be questioned by the family. But “he would never have removed the body from the coffin to leave it in a tarpaulin in the ground…”, she assures.

An investigation has been opened

Especially since in , “a body cannot be buried without being placed in a coffin,” she recalls, wondering if the body found in the tarpaulin is indeed that of her mother.
