Haute-Savoie: construction site delays and low morale among construction professionals: the consequences of incessant rain

Feet in the mud, morale in your socks! For weeks or even months, rain has complicated life and the progress of construction sites, all trades combined. Between schedule delays and the working conditions of the teams, morale is at half mast.
Example on the huge stud farm rehabilitation project in the city center of where the roofers were still at a standstill yesterday morning because of the rain.

“Our employees no longer have morale at all, performance is less good”

In Allonzier-la-Caille and Fillière, Rodolphe Paccard manages the companies LP Charpente and Eden Home. “With this accumulation of rain, everything has become more complicated. The men are demoralized, the work is less clean because when we assemble frames in the rain, we have more rework, sanding, cleaning, the output is less good. Everything takes longer. Honestly, it’s depressing.”.

“These endless rains are annoying”

On the stud site this Monday morning, a few workers are working outdoors. Protected by a barnum, a mason creates a paving stone around the future gourmet market, while a few meters further on a team from the company Alpes Jardins Paysages de Seynod pours concrete in the middle of puddles of water. “It’s a hassle and painful in the long run,” sighs Théo Lemaire, one of the three workers. ” When it rains, to dry the concrete and then even for the quantity of water, it doesn’t give what we want. Even for earthmoving, the mud sticks to the shovel and buckets. It slows down construction sites.”
