This Monday, the Métropole de Lyon allocated aid of one million euros to the CinéFabrique school, to help it continue its installation in its new premises.
The Métropole de Lyon has decided to allocate one million euros to the CinéFabrique school, in order to help with the renovation of its new premises, a budget which is part of the city’s cultural strategy.
A budget justified by the importance of cinema in the Lyon region, according to Cédric Van Styvendael, vice-president of the Métropole de Lyon, in charge of cultural policies. “It is important for us to support the CinéFabrique, welcoming a film school to the territory of the Metropolis means bringing to life our cultural and cinematographic identity that began more than 120 years ago now”he said this Monday.
A Lyon school, which promotes inclusiveness and diversity
Founded in Lyon in 2015, the national higher school of cinema and multimedia, CinéFabrique has been promoting the values of inclusiveness and diversity for almost ten years, values praised by the Metropolis. “La CinéFabrique, through its openness and philosophy, allows all students, from very different social backgrounds, to access excellent education.” confides Cédric Van Styvendael.
With a minimum of 50% scholarship students per class, and gender parity to be respected, CinéFabrique also aims to establish itself in the Lyon region. “Our goal is also to allow young talents from the Lyon region to dare to pursue careers in cinema.”shared Claude Mouriéras, Director of CinéFabrique
Completion of work planned for 2026
This sum should allow the creation of specialized rooms, the recovery of the building envelope, the rehabilitation of two annex buildings and the development of outdoor spaces. The end date of the work is announced as 2026.
