The town of Gramat presents, the Friday 24, Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 May 2024, the third edition of the Cinema Festival “literary adaptations for cinema”. Note this year the presence on Sunday May 26 of the actor and director Thomas Chabrol. Remember that Thomas Chabrol is the son of actress Stéphane Audran and director Claude Chabrol.

Friday May 24, 2024

Opening of the festival from 7 p.m. at the Atelier cinema.

At 8:30 p.m. – “The Seven Lives of Madeleine Riffaud” (2020). Documentary directed and produced by Jorge Amat and adapted from the comic strip by Jean-David Morvan, duration 1 hour 30 minutes: meeting and debate with the director in partnership with Aventurine46, readings of poems by Madeleine Riffaud, poet and journalist.

At 11 p.m., screening prohibited for under 12s, “The Soul Eater” (2024 – Detective – Thriller – by Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo), duration 1 hour 50 minutes.

Saturday May 25

From 9 a.m. – Ciné-P’tit Dej.

At 10 a.m., young audience session from 3 years old, “Pompon Ours” (2023), family animation by Matthieu Gaillard adapted from the character of Benjamin Chaud, duration 35 min. “Pompon Pours à l’opéra” show offered by the Municipal Library.

At 2 p.m., family session, “Wonka” by Paul King (2023) duration 1 hour 57 minutes. Family fantasy adventure based on the world of Roald Dahl and prequel to “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”. Chocolate tasting event with Gregory Poeuf from the Quercy pastry shop in Gramat.

At 5 p.m., family session, “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” by Chris Columbus (2001), duration 2 hours 32. Adventure, family and fantasy.

Saturday May 25 afternoon: games around the Harry Potter universe with MS Games, board games and video games from Bibliothèque and Micro-Folie.

From 9 p.m., “Dune” evening, cinematographic works adapted from the novel by Franck Herbert. Science fiction. Dune, 1D part at 9 p.m. (2021) by Denis Villeneuve duration 2 h 36. Dune, 2e part at 0 a.m., by Denis Villeneuve, duration of 2 hours 46 minutes.

Sunday May 26

From 9 a.m., Ciné-P’tit Dej

At 10 a.m., session for young audiences from 6 years old, “The Kingdom of Kensuké” adapted from the children’s novel by Michael Morpurgo, Niel Boyle & Kirk Hendry. Duration 1 hour 24, animation.

Free artistic expression workshop with Audrey Cogny, illustrator.

At 2 p.m., general audience screening, Madame Bovary, cult film inspired by the novel by G. Flaubert (1991) by Claude Chabrol. Duration 2 hours 23 minutes (drama, historical, romance). Presence of Thomas Chabrol, actor and director and Maguy Cisterne, general secretary of the Brive Middle Ages Festival.

At 5:30 p.m., general public session, Ma part de gaulois (2024) by Malik Chibane. Duration 1 hour 31 minutes (comedy). Local weekend cinema filmed in Occitanie, supported by the Occitanie region and Cinéphilae, adapted from the novel by Magyd Cherfi. Meeting with a film technician and the Cinéphilae association.

At 8:30 p.m., general public session, “Coup de coeur” by the guest of honor of the weekend Thomas Chabrol, two short stories adapted for the screen by Guy de Maupassant “La Parure” and “Le petit fut”, by Claude Chabrol (2007 – 2008) duration of 1 hour.

The plus points of the festival

Saturday May 25: movie meal, 4 possibilities: 10 a.m. film + meal or meal + 2 p.m. film or 5 p.m. film + meal or meal + 9 p.m. film.

Sunday May 26 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Média “Broc, free location. Fast food with Bol du Boudha. Refreshment bar on site run by parents of students from the Clément Brouqui school.

“Return from Brive” from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., free access to the cinema, screening of award-winning medium-length films during the Brive international medium-length film meetings: “Salut les Zins” by Paul Nouhet, Saturday May 25 and “Madame Rodin ou l’Age Mur” by Lana Cheramy, on Sunday May 26.

Screening of cinematographic works produced by students from the Clément Brouqui school. “History and techniques of cinema”: exhibition and optical games, presence of a traveling bookstore, cinematographic technique workshops (Mash Up workshops), readings for children with volunteers from Lire et Faire Lire.

Screening of the documentary “Chabrol, the anticonformist” 2018 by Cécile Maistre-Chabrol

Closing of the weekend with music by the “Studio Récré” college choir.
