Mame Boye Diao, former candidate for the 2024 presidential election and mayor of Kolda, expressed, during her appearance this Sunday on the show Point of view on RTS, the reasons for his support for the Pastef party list with a view to the legislative elections on November 17.
This support, he clarified, goes beyond emotional considerations, based instead on a community of principles and values shared with the president of Pastef, Ousmane Sonko.
Mame Boye Diao, president of the Diao2024 coalition, declared that his decision to join the presidential movement represented by Pastef stems from a programmatic convergence between the two political parties. “Beyond the emotional choice, we have the same principles,” he affirmed, recalling his past shared with Ousmane Sonko at the University of Saint-Louis and at the General Directorate of Taxes and Domains, which reinforced mutual understanding and an absence of major contradictions between them.
Mame Boye Diao’s support for Pastef is part of a broader vision. According to him, it is important to support a list capable of allowing the presidential movement to govern in accordance with the commitments made to the Senegalese people. “My political base decided to support the Pastef list to support the presidential movement to have the means to govern in full compliance with the commitments it had made with the Senegalese people,” he added.
The former 2024 presidential candidate also recalled his social project entitled Jubanti Sunugaal-Guipresented during his application. This project aimed to reconcile the Senegalese and build a new Senegal.
He welcomed the victory of President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye in this election, believing that the legislative elections of November 17 will be an opportunity to consolidate this choice by giving the presidential movement the means to apply its program entitled A sovereign, just and prosperous Senegal.
For Mame Boye Diao, this support for Pastef is part of a process of rupture that he has always advocated and which, according to him, must be reflected in the ballot boxes.
“Logically, and in accordance with my trajectory, the Diao 2024 coalition will vote for the Pastef list led by President Ousmane Sonko,” he concluded.
