Saturdays follow one another but are not the same at the Saint-Jean stadium. A week after clearly beating Cannes in the championship (3-0), the Genêts d’Anglet were much less inspired against Stade Bordelais. The Girondins logically win (0-1) and qualify for the 6th round. Uninformed spectators present at the match must have wondered which of the two teams played one division above the other, as the residents of N3 dominated the debates.
A federal oddity, Stade Bordelais played in yellow, Anglet’s usual color, while the Basques wore a white tunic. The Girondins usually play in black and… white. Brief. As at home, the visitors couldn’t have started better, opening the score in the 3rd minute. Alexandre Zahi diverted a free kick from Tony Romero into his own goal and Anglet was already running behind the score.
And behind the ball during a first act dominated by Stade Bordelais. Romero again, hit the post with a half-volley at the half-hour mark while Anglet failed to create a chance, except on a harmless header from Lucas Laplace-Palette (32nd) .
Harmless
The quarter-hour break will not change anything in the nature of the match. The Genêts lost countless balls and duels, the Girondins dominated and were very close to doubling the lead (61st). A big strike from Medhi Nfati forced goalkeeper Angloy to make a magnificent save. On the following corner, defender Mathieu Dario hit the post of the cage guarded this Saturday by Valentin Da Ros.
Bordeaux’s lack of realism left the Genêts in the match and we said to ourselves that the Basques would have an opportunity to equalize before the end. Despite the positive entries of Xan Daguerre and Thibault Lapeyre, this equalizing ball will never arrive. After having already beaten an N2 (Bergerac) in the previous round, Stade Bordelais does a double blow and continues the adventure in the Coupe de France unlike Anglet, which must now concentrate on remaining in National 2.
Reactions
Cédric Pardeilhan, Anglet coach : “It’s a non-match on our part. We have the right to lose but not like that. I didn’t recognize our team. We failed in the state of mind we need to have to play these cup matches. We failed in what is the simplest. Put your will, put your soul on the ground. I put the team that seemed best to me, also wanting to give some people confidence. I’m a little disappointed. There are some who lost a few points, it’s up to them to regain them. »
Antoine Verges, Stade Bordelais coach: “We are very satisfied. We achieved the feat of beating a second N2. It’s great, we’re having some fun times. We manage to sublimate ourselves in the Coupe de France. We will impatiently await the draw on Thursday. After beating Bergerac we had a very difficult match in the league against Blagnac. There we are going to Trelissac so it’s up to us to take advantage but to quickly switch back to the championship”
