Are you looking for an adventure in space? Well, know that a particularly successful experience is currently available on Game Pass and PlayStation Plus. We tell you about it here.
Do you know Prey? Not the wacky shooter from 2006, but theimmersive sim from 2017, developed by Arkane Austin. If the studio unfortunately did not find favor in the eyes of Xbox after the failure of Redfall (the company was closed in May 2024), its FPS in space will be remembered for a long time. It is currently available in Xbox Game Pass PC (and in the Standard and Ultimate formula on console) as well as in the PS Plus Extra and Premium catalog.

Prey? Go!
So, what is Prey? We could first describe it as an action-horror game… Here, we play Morgan Yun, a man or a woman – it’s your choice at the start of the adventure – who works on the Talos 1 station. It is the flagship of American-Russian aerospace. In the universe created by Arkane Austin, President Kennedy is not dead and the United States and Russia have united to conquer space. But this almost utopian achievement will be mistreated by the arrival of aliens aboard the ship, who will kill all the employees in their path! Our mission? Leave the place in one piece.
A worthy heir to System Shock
But to cut short the description of Prey in this way would not be doing him justice. Arkane Austin’s title is indeed a worthy heir to System Shock, a first-person shooter that defined the “immersive sim”. This is a genre where player choices are at the heart of the experience… Faced with a given situation, there will be several solutions, and using various tools, it will be up to you to imagine the solution that suits you best. Coming back to Prey, a power allows – for example – to take the appearance of a decorative object, whether it be a coffee cup or even a binder. Enough to go through an air duct rather than finding a way to unlock the door that is blocking your way.
What’s more, Prey benefits from a nice horror atmosphere (it’s still affordable, it’s not PT) and a nice artistic direction. In short, it’s a rather unique game that we highly recommend. At the time, at JV, we gave it a score of 16/20, calling it “a captivating adventure” served by “very successful gameplay” and a “package of good ideas”.
