News – Champagne FM – Discover the complete journey of the Olympic Flame in Marne

Sunday June 30, the Olympic Flame will pass through seven towns in the Marne department.

100 carriers will pass it on throughout the day.

Numerous activities and festivities will punctuate the event.

The departure will take place in Vitry-le-François and then go to Giffaumont and Lac du Der before continuing to Châlons-en-Champagne.

The Flame will reach Sainte-Menehould and then pass through Épernay then Sézanne before ending its journey at Porte de Mars in Reims, surrounded by 24 young sportsmen and college students from Marne, a few moments before lighting the cauldron.

Vitry-le-François

Departure time : 9 a.m. La Salamandre

Arriving time : 9:46 a.m. Place d’Armes

Course : La Salamandre / rue des Hauts Pas / rue du Petit Denier / place de la Halle / jardin des Minimes / porte du Pont / place du Maréchal de Lattre de Tassigny / Albert Camus media library / town hall / boulevard François 1er / place du Général Giraud / Place D’Armes

The Flame will be carried by 15 torchbearers, and the start of its journey will be given with fanfare by the Battery of the XVII Circle at 9 a.m. from the “La Salamandre” aquatic center.

Three kilometers further, on the Place d’Armes, the municipal music school will welcome the arrival of the last torchbearer by performing the Olympic anthem as well as La Marseillaise.

The “Vitry lends itself to the Games” sports village, managed by the Vitryat sports associations, will offer fun workshops until 1 p.m.

Giffaumont-Champaubert

Departure time : 10:25 a.m.

Arriving time : 10:55 a.m. esplanade

Course : departure from the fun-center (to arrive by the lake) following the footbridge of the southern basin of the lake / marina / rooster sculpture / footbridge of the marina

At 10:25 a.m., with the Champaubert church in the background, the flame bearer will be taken on a dragon boat by 20 members of the Dragon Ladies of Châlons-en Champagne, all dressed in pink in reference to the fight against cancer of the breast.

The Flame will disembark near the sailing school and will circle the port with its carriers to arrive on the esplanade at 10:55 a.m.

Entertainment is planned throughout the morning, with a welcome of the Flame in music by Les Joyeux champêtres and a color run organized for the occasion.

Chalons Champagne

Departure time : 11:07 a.m. avenue de Valmy

Course : Pierre de Coubertin sports palace / Notre-Dame-en-Vaux collegiate church / covered market / Marne departmental archives / Porte Sainte-Croix / Sainte-Thérèse parish / grand garden / Saint-Étienne cathedral / rue de la Marne / hotel city

On the Place de la République and in the large garden, sports demonstrations and various activities will be provided by the Châlonnais clubs (freestyle football, double-duch, artistic cycling, acrobatic dunk, giant table football) from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Sainte-Menehould

Departure time : 1:20 p.m. castle hill

Arriving time : 1:40 p.m. town hall

Course : statue of Sainte-Menehould / rue Dom Pérignon / statue of Dom Pérignon / rue Chanzy / town hall

At 1:20 p.m., the Flame will leave the statue of Sainte-Menehould, on the mound of the castle, to arrive 20 minutes later at the town hall.

During this day, activities will take place in the morning in the hospital gardens and Pasteur Square: trail for children and adolescents at 9:30 a.m., 6/7km hike at 9:30 a.m., musical entertainment at 10:45 a.m., parade of sports associations at 12 p.m.

In the afternoon, meet at Place du Général Leclerc for a giant barbecue, an introduction to their activities by the city’s associations, a breaking demonstration at 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., an acrobatic basketball show at 3:30 p.m. and a concert. outdoors from 6:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Épernay

Departure time : 3:09 p.m. Belle-Noue vineyard

It is between 3:09 p.m. and 4:13 p.m. that the Sparnaciennes will benefit from the passing of the Olympic Flame.

Starting in the vineyard (Belle-Noue vineyard), the Flame will join Avenue de Champagne after passing through the city center.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., activities are planned at Place Fada N’Gourma (boxing, 3×3 basketball and blind football), as well as on Avenue de Champagne and in the courtyards of the champagne houses.

There will be demonstrations of Olympic disciplines, an introduction to the dance of the Games, as well as a running race by age category.

Sézanne

Departure time : 5:19 p.m. place du Champ-Benoist

Arriving time : 5:39 p.m. Fontaine du Vé stadium

The Olympic Flame will cross Sézanne between 5:19 p.m., departing from Place du Champ-Benoist, and 5:39 p.m., arriving at the Fontaine du Vé stadium.

From 2 p.m. to midnight, many activities are on the program: from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., an Olympic village at the Fontaine du Vé stadium to discover and practice sporting activities; from 5:45 p.m., demonstration of several sporting disciplines; at 6 p.m., break-dancing show and initiation for children; from 7 p.m., giant picnic with a free concert.

Reims

Departure time : 5:47 p.m. Champagne park

Arriving time : 7:20 p.m. Porte de Mars

The day’s activities will begin at 10 a.m. at Parc de Champagne, the starting point of the Flame route through the city.

From 5:47 p.m., the 40 torchbearers will begin their 8 km journey through Reims, passing its most emblematic monuments.

At 7:20 p.m., the last torchbearer will set foot on the Porte de Mars esplanade, the celebration site where the cauldron will be lit, identical to the one that will be ignited for the opening of the Games.

The torchbearer will be welcomed by a guard of honor made up of 24 young athletes and schoolchildren from Marne.

The celebration site will be open from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. to the public and will offer numerous activities to those present.
