Far from the national tumult, the Renaissance section of Morbihan made its political comeback, this Saturday, October 12, 2024, in Lorient. After a complicated year for Emmanuel Macron’s party – with two defeats, in the European elections and in the legislative elections – it was time to remobilize the troops. Orchestrated by the departmental president of the party, Guillaume Auffret, this meeting was therefore an opportunity to take stock of these missed deadlines but also to look to the future and therefore the 2026 municipal elections.
“An explosion of memberships”
With 300 members in the 56, Renaissance had chosen the Maison des associations Jean-Le-Coutaller to meet in the city of six ports. Despite recent defeats, Guillaume Auffret still wants to be optimistic. “We gained 50 members during the legislative campaign,” assures the Vannes municipal councilor, referring to “an explosion in membership.” “There was an awareness among many of our voters that we had to get involved. We also welcomed different profiles. It’s something very good.”
As for the defeat of Lysiane Métayer – central bloc candidate in the fifth constituency of Morbihan (Lorient-Groix) – the president of Renaissance would like to recall the campaign of “digital harassment” suffered by the former MP “on the part of the LEFT “. “That’s not how we see politics,” continues the Vannes elected official. Moreover, in the event of another dissolution of the National Assembly, Lysiane Métayer could be invested again. “For us, it’s obvious,” he assures, recalling the legislative victories of Jean-Michel Jacques in the sixth constituency (Hennebont-Gourin) and Nicole Le Peih in the third (Pontivy-Elven).
“Widen the central block”
This file closed – for the moment -, now places the municipal elections of 2026. “We want to propose a project for the territory”, says Guillaume Auffret who counts on the experience of the four Renaissance mayors elected in the department (Allaire, Rohan, Saint -Philibert and Inzinzac-Lochrist) to campaign. “It’s important to build on our strengths, listen to the difficulties they encountered and how they dealt with them. What were the good times too?
If the idea is to present as many candidates as possible, there will, of course, be exceptions in the event of an alliance, such as in Lorient with Fabrice Loher. “The idea is to expand the central bloc: from LR to PS,” he repeats. An ambition already well tested by the macronie, but the elected official remains confident. Finally, who says Morbihan, necessarily says Jean-Yves Le Drian. “It is a voice that counts in the department and it is a voice – I hope – that we will be able to hear, when the time comes, to mark this left of responsibility that he embodies.” The dates of the first and second rounds of the 2026 municipal elections should be announced in June 2025.
