A new hybrid version for the Lexus LX | Automotive news

The 2025 Lexus LX lineup will include a new hybrid variant.

The 2025 Lexus LX is available in five trims: Premium, F SPORT, Luxury, Executive VIP and, new for the 2025 model year, Overtrail +. The LX is thus the only vehicle in the Lexus range to offer F Sport and Overtrail + versions.

Built for adventure
The Overtrail + version is equipped with additional features and equipment for exploring nature. It also adds front and rear locking differentials, a 2400W inverter and all-season floor liners. This version is equipped with 33-inch all-terrain tires and 18-inch wheels, a front skid plate and an Appearance package that adds a matte gray grille, black door handles, gray roof rails dark chrome window surrounds and bumpers, as well as black fender guards. The Overtrail + version is available with the LX 700h and in a two- or three-row configuration. The LX 600 and LX 700h can tow up to 8,000 pounds.

A first hybrid powertrain for the LX
The LX 700h’s hybrid powertrain produces 457 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque (provisional figures). It is made up of a powerful electric motor and a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, which are paired with a 10-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission.

It is the first Lexus hybrid system to include an alternator and starter as standard. If the hybrid system is inoperative, the starter allows independent ignition of the engine, while the alternator supplies the 12 V auxiliary battery, which allows the vehicle to continue driving with the gasoline engine alone.

VIP Executive Version
The Executive VIP version offers four seats and for the first time enriches the LX range by paying particular attention to rear passenger space and their experience. The seats in this location feature a massage function, version-exclusive curved headrests, backrests and cushions that gently envelop the head, hips and lower body. VIP seats help compensate for lateral G forces and uneven road surfaces. The shape of the seats helps maintain a secure posture, while the use of soft urethane with superior vibration absorption capabilities helps suppress unwanted movement, even when driving off-road.

Additional comfort features, such as sunshades on the side windows and rear quarter windows, reading lights and a rear screen, are included as standard. An air conditioning system exclusive to the Executive VIP version incorporates unique ceiling vents to provide a comfortable breeze across the body. For 2025, a wireless charger is now included as standard up front.

Lexus Interface system with 12.3-inch touchscreen
A standard 12.3-inch high-definition touchscreen, accompanied by a 7.0-inch lower display, exclusive to the LX, provides easy-to-use controls and clear information to the driver and front passenger. Their glass screens feature a high-adhesion anti-reflective coating that provides a vibrant display. Menu operation is similar to that of smartphones and tablets. For greater ease of use by the driver and passenger, a central button located at the bottom edge of the screen provides on/off and volume control.

The 2025 LX 600 and LX 700h will be assembled at the Toyota Auto Body plant in Yoshiwara, Japan, and will go on sale in early 2025. Pricing will be announced at a later date.
