Update May 14, 2024 at 3:00 p.m.
Summer is not very far away and this will be felt in the coming days. Humidity is making a comeback in the province and this will affect temperatures. Forecast.
In short :
-
Feelings above 25 this week;
-
A strong return of humidity;
-
Summer heat soon in Montreal.
An atmospheric ridge will rise from the United States and bring milder air to southern Quebec in the coming days. This is what will give the feeling of taking a step closer to the summer season.
A dew point of around 15 degrees
Humidity will have an impact on the background air in the province in the coming days. In southern Quebec, the dew point will be around 15°, which will increase the feeling of comfort.
Added to this factor is the growth of plants and tree leaves which causes evapotranspiration and an increase in the level of humidity in the air. In other words, plants, as they regenerate, will transmit vapor into the atmosphere from the ground and the surface, which will contribute to making the air more humid.
Note that it is only when the dew point reaches 18° that we speak of a real sensation of heat. From 22°, the heat becomes overwhelming.
Temperatures felt above 20
In recent weeks, we have reached 20° on several occasions, but generally without the help of the humidity in the air. As of Tuesday, feelings will exceed this value in Gatineau, Montreal, Trois-Rivières, Sherbrooke and Quebec. Over the coming days, the metropolis should also record its first feelings at more than 25. Some sectors have already reached this mark, notably Gatineau and Maniwaki on May 4.
