INTERVIEW – Andry Rajoelina attended the Francophonie summit in , a visit which ratified the end of tensions with the former colonial power. However, he highlights the remaining points of disagreement.

LE FIGARO. – What will you keep from this summit of the Francophonie in which you participated and which is sometimes still perceived as a neocolonial circle ?

Andry RAJOELINA. – La francophonie is in reality an important meeting, especially this year, with the accession of new members and observers, which marks the progress of the organization at the global level. French, with its 320 million speakers, is a force for managing the crises that the world is going through at the moment. The Francophonie was perceived for a time as an instrument of Françafrique. This is no longer the case. We see this because, during the summit, the debates were focused on international challenges and not centered on France.
