Franky Johnny: a second address in Limoilou

Every time we pass through Quebec, it’s obligatory: we stop at Franky Johnny’s to devour one of their decadent sandwiches. Since last July, the capital’s essential sandwich shop has opened a second branch in Limoilou. A good excuse to go twice as often!

The new address occupies the corner of 3rd Avenue and 11th Street, where the Beau Soir convenience store was once located. If the decor is more modern and bright, with a few more seats, the concept remains the same: a sandwich counter, coffees from Cantook Micro Torréfaction and good breads from Borderon & fils under one roof.

For this new adventure, we still find the same partners, Jonathan Marcoux (Johnny) and François Borderon from the Borderon & fils bakery (Franky), to which is added Mathieu Bélanger.

If you’ve never tasted Franky Johnny’s sandwiches, allow us to whet your appetite: generous toppings prepared on site, on a choice of focaccia or baguette (from Borderon & fils, of course), all dripping with sauces , they are also homemade. The banh mi-style pork belly sandwich is a sure favorite. Two large slices of confit 48 Quebec pork belly, mayo and homemade bbq sauce, marinated carrots and daikon and coriander – beautiful, clean flavors that explode in the mouth. For vegetarians, a tofu version with sunflower mayo and coriander is also on the menu. The Big Mac, inspired by the chain’s famous sandwich with yellow arches, is another must-have.

We also really like the prices of the sandwiches, all under $15. A godsend considering their gargantuan size!

The new branch is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Franky Johnny also offers a catering service for your parties or business lunches and delivery is also possible via Uber Eats.

Good discovery!
