With the arrival of the storm “Kirk”part of must expect heavy downpours over the next few hours.

Météo-France has thus placed 25 departments in vigilance orangeincluding Val-d’Oise for which a very high risk of rains and floodsWednesday October 9, 2024.

While the department has been placed since 4 p.m., this Tuesday, October 8, 2024, in yellow alert for thunderstormsthe situation should calm down during the evening and night before deteriorating tomorrow morning from 9 a.m.

The equivalent of a month of rain in 24 hours

The change to orange is announced from midday, with showers expected until the evening. “The accumulations will be significant on Wednesday with values ​​generally between 20 and 30 mm. Local accumulations of between 40 and 60 mm could be observed, particularly over a large south-eastern half of Île-de-France,” announced the Val-d’Oise prefecture.

“These accumulations correspond to the equivalent of a month of rain falling in just 24 hours! », underlines Météo Parisien, calling for “caution. It is almost certain that the rivers will flood with an orange alert at least very likely. Be careful on the roads with very poor traffic conditions.”
