In a communication sent to parents whose The gallery obtained a copy, the director of the establishment Nathalie Marceau explains that the project will be inspired by a “campus experience”. It will “create a living environment where people connect and community meets. A living environment where the heart of the school becomes an island of greenery, creating a lively and vibrant central square. A living environment where buildings and spaces are interconnected, uniting indoor and outdoor academic environments.

Reached by telephone and email, Ms. Marceau did not wish to say more about this project, mentioning that an official announcement will take place later in June.

Science laboratory and workspace

According to the communication sent to parents, this new construction will include science laboratories, collaborative work and relaxation spaces, a cafeteria and a sports area. It will be connected to the Don Bosco Pavilion thanks to a glass corridor, it is indicated.

A central outdoor square will also be created between the new building and the Don Bosco Pavilion.

The parking lot located near the gymnasiums will be moved and expanded towards the rear of the current Quebecor Center.

Students and parents were informed of the project on April 30. Students will be able to get involved through a working group to “support the realization of this project”.

The work will not begin by the end of the school year, underlines Le Salésien in the communication sent to parents.

“Over the coming weeks, we will actively work to bring together a campaign cabinet to begin the financing stages,” we can read.

No building permit had yet been issued by the City of Sherbrooke for 135 rue Don-Bosco Nord as of May 7, 2024.

“Frequent communications” will be sent to parents from the next school year in order to provide an update on the progress of the project, it is mentioned.
