In Féricy, in Seine-et-Marne, the La Bâtisse association has been planning the renovation of the mansion of the La Salle domain to transform it into third place.

This 1838 building, located on Route de Barbeau, includes a nine-hectare park, stuck to the town hall. It was bought by the municipality in 2006. The site attracted the attention of the Objectif Terre 77 association, which wishes to establish its headquarters there in the future.

» We were looking for a place to be able to create beautiful things. We will be able to train, work, exchange and above all happily imagine the world of tomorrow together,” underlines Caroline Amigues, founder of La Bâtisse, in charge of the work, and administrator of Objectif Terre 77.

Renovation

The project is to renovate this heritage manor to make it a place for sharing and meeting within the village, with a community café. The Building is a SCIC (Collective Interest Cooperative Society) non-profit : it allows everyone to invest in this group program. There are around twenty citizens volunteers who currently take care of the maintenance of the park and the residence.

The structure obtained, via the town hall, a long lease of 75 years: the manor must be returned to the municipality as a third place, once the work is finished. The park is not included in the lease, but remains open to all.

When the construction site is completed, each level of the house will have its use: the ground floor will serve as a reception area and an open terrace will provide access to the park. The first floor will be devoted to art workshopsthe second will consist of eight rooms for groups, and the top floor will serve as a meeting place and seminars business.

Workshops, shows and many outdoor activities will be organized. A place full of life, sharing and fulfillment, these are the ambitions of the association.
