Crisis in Solidarity Quebec: the open letter is a “total revolt”

The open letter signed by 40 signatories of Québec solidaire, including Catherine Dorion, denouncing the new direction of the party is a “total revolt” against Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois, according to Gaétan Barrette.

“There is going to be a split,” explained the ex-minister on the show The Joust.

“Where will this fearful choice to stay within the limits of pragmatism lead us?” can we read in the message that was sent to the media The Press.

Mr. Nadeau-Dubois is playing it all out, according to him.

He recalled that all MPs are behind the male co-spokesperson of the political party.

“They can be on the left without being far left. What we are reading is the radical far left,” said the jousting Elsie Lefebvre.

Joëlle Boutin finds that the signatories of the letter are “very disconnected from reality”.

“It’s what? Are we going to become like Cuba and be a communist party? she says.

A big tip in sight

Former co-spokesperson for Québec solidaire Manon Massé is letting members make the decision on the new direction of the party, she mentioned during a press scrum on Thursday.

“Manon’s intervention is fundamental,” believes Elsie Lefebvre.

“You can’t put yourself against Manon Massé, there are some who will leave,” she adds.

Gaétan Barrette thinks that the far-left mentality should leave the party.

“They have to go to the center, with the right person,” he believes.

The jouster completes by mentioning that if the extreme left remains, “they are finished”.

“I am convinced that [l’extrême gauche va] be more and more vocal,” predicts Joëlle Boutin.

All this comes following the resignation of the party’s female co-spokesperson, Émilise Lessard-Therrien, after she had held this position for the last 4 months.

The National Council of Québec Solidaire will take place from May 24 to 26 in Saguenay.
