An Internet user, Mayer Feig, published a video from a surveillance camera on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

We can see the child waiting behind a parked car, then entering the street as his school bus arrives.

A cyclist who was riding on the cycle path passes at the same time, hits the little girl head-on and then falls onto the asphalt.

Shortly before the collision, we could see that the school bus’s “stop” sign was in motion.

According to Mr. Feig, the school bus driver honked his horn at least three times to get the attention of the cyclist who did not appear to be looking ahead. She would potentially be holding a cell phone in her hands.

In his publication X, he denounces that “this is not the first time this has happened, including to my son. The child is fine.” He adds that “more must be done to [la rue] Jeanne-Mance.

Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante, the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM), city councilor Alain Vaillancourt and Plateau-Mont-Royal mayor Luc Rabouin were all identified in Mr. Feig’s publication. .

“I am relieved to read that the child is doing well despite the collision,” wrote Aref Salem, leader of the Official Opposition at Montreal City Hall and city councilor in the Saint-Laurent borough on x. [Le] Road Safety Code applies to everyone to protect the most vulnerable. Respect and vigilance are required. An accident happens too quickly.”

A little later in the afternoon, the mayor reacted to the situation on road users. I am relieved to know that the child who was hit is doing well.”
