Cœur d’Essonne Agglomération and La Base Studios, the operating company, have announced the opening of a site dedicated to film filming on former base 217.

Coeur d’Essonne Agglomération and La Base Studiosoperating company, have just signed an agreement for the opening, planned for 2025, of a site dedicated to film shoots, on the former military base 217 in Plessis-Pâté (Essonne), less than 25 kilometers (km) from Paris and 15 km from Orly airport. This is a project which will finally accelerate the development of the site, which has been on hold since the departure of TSF, the previous operator.

La Base Studios, project leader and investor, will relaunch a site which has hosted numerous filming sessions since its creation in 2018: The Emperor of Paris by Jean-François Richet released in 2018, Eiffel by Martin Bourboulon (2021) or even Asterix and Obelix : the Middle Kingdom by Guillaume Canet (2023). The company, which recently transferred its head office from Clichy (Hauts-de-Seine) to Plessis-Pâté, has the ambition to offer “innovative and complete responses to filming of cinematographic and audiovisual productions”, she emphasizes in a press release.

The project is valued at 25 million euros

The Base Studios will host filming of French and international films and series thanks to 10 hectares (ha) dedicated specifically to the areas of exterior filming (backlots) which will make it possible to build occasional decorations. A lasting Parisian decor will also be erected there to respond to the drastic reduction in filming authorizations in intramuros Paris.”, says the future operator. The productions will also have a runway 2 km long and a taxiway of more than 1 km, and a plain of 30 ha capable of accommodating monumental decorations.

The complex will also consist of 3,500 square meters (m2) of studios including one of 2500 m2as well as 1000 m2 ofmanufacturing workshops and 2000 m2 dressing rooms, offices and storage. A Village of 10,000 m2 – dedicated to suppliers, service providers and artisans in the sector, and operated by the Parisian investor promoter Virtuo – will support the studios. Finally, on-site accommodation and catering services will make the daily lives of the teams easier. In this project, estimated at 25 million euros, “the Agglomeration will combine the transfer of land and the rental provision of existing buildings”specifies to conclude La Base Studios.
