A citizen filed a complaint against the result of the municipal election in Val-de-Ruz (NE) on April 21. The constituent assembly of the new authorities, scheduled for May 27, was convened subject to the outcome of the investigation by the state legal service.

“The dispute concerns the way of counting the list votes, mainly on handwritten lists,” the Val-de-Ruz Municipal Council said on Wednesday. The latter “expresses the hope that the question can be quickly resolved in order to allow the new authorities to get to work in a climate of serenity and within the planned deadlines”, he added.

Recount possible

According to Arcinfo, “if the complaint is accepted, it will be necessary to resume the counting of all the incomplete handwritten lists in Val-de-Ruz, recount the list votes and see if this modifies the results published on the evening of April 21. Note that This problem does not particularly affect one party more than another.

At the end of the vote on April 21, the PLR had obtained 15 seats (-1), the PS 11 seats (+2), the Vert-es 9 seats (-), the UDC 5 seats (+1) and the PVL one seat (-1). The Center lost its only chair. As the left and the right each have 20 seats, the Green Liberals (PVL) will tip the scales.

It is the General Council which will choose, on May 27, the Municipal Council. Currently the executive is made up of three PLR, 1 PS and 1 Green.
