A special evening pays tribute, Tuesday October 8 in prime time on France 5, to the 11 million people who support a loved one losing their autonomy on a daily basis. Paraathlete and host Théo Curin takes us into two of these families with his documentary series Aidants, it’s time to help them, in which we find in a first episode, the actor Bruno Solo and in a second, the actress Clémentine Célarié.
The actress took on the role of a caregiver for 48 hours by taking the place of a mother, Katherine, who takes care of her 21-year-old son Ryan alone. The young man is severely disabled, in a wheelchair and needs daily care, as well as assistance with all the activities of the day. “Everyone should experience this,” explains Clémentine Célarié. She doesn’t like the words ‘sick’ or ‘handicapped’, but admires the self-sacrifice shown by the caregivers.
Learning to be patient

I’m the one who learned, it’s not Ryan who learned.” “I learned patience, true love. Ryan could be my child, she continues, I know that with her mother, in the evening, they watch a film, even if she is exhausted. They watch together, they share.”

This film also tells the story of the feeling of guilt that many caregivers experience when they take a few moments for themselves. “Théo Curin took it out of his daily life and there is a lot of light in this film,” according to her. Clémentine Célarié encourages us to watch this feel-good film. “It’s paradoxical, but it feels good because the film is very positive. It gives you energy because this woman shines. She has crazy energy and so does Ryan!” she concludes.
