Ms. Berthold confirmed this to The gallery Wednesday morning. She had announced it shortly before in an interview on regional Radio-Canada radio.

“I’m thinking about it,” she succinctly replied in writing. The Desranleau councilor did not wish to grant us an interview.

A little earlier, Ms. Berthold emphasized on the microphone of host Mathieu Beaumont that “it leans more the way I go [à la mairie]”.

Former member of the Sherbrooke Renouveau, several of whose former high-ranking officials are in the administration of the new Vision Action Sherbrooke party, Danielle Berthold did not specify whether she would run for town hall for a party or as an independent.

Ms. Berthold was recently dismissed from her position as president of the Sherbrooke municipal council after having herself resigned from her position on the executive committee. All this happened because of a dispute with the mayor over the swimming pool tax issue.

Last week, the mayor of Sherbrooke, Évelyne Beaudin, confirmed that she would not seek a new mandate in 2025.
