Traveling to Waregem, the Boom players let out a big “phew!” » of relief. After 2 first days without a victory, the last of which escaped them on the wire against Charleroi (71-72), the Phantoms were able to considerably rectify the situation. For this, they were able to rely in particular on Sam VAN BUGGENHOUT (20 points, 4 rebounds) or Merel KNAEPEN (19 points including 3/5 at 3 points), to name but a few, in order to dominate without possible challenge an agui opponent was not aggressive enough defensively.
A first success is what offered Donza his arms during day 1 in Charleroi (88-84 defeat). Through hard work, the promoted person was able to open his counter. On the floor of Lummen, Leni DECLERCQ (16 points, 2 rebounds) and his partners took the upper hand in the first period (33-44, 20′) before doing it again upon returning from the locker room (43-63, 30′) in order to “fold the game” definitively . Meanwhile, this weekend’s little surprise comes from Kortrijk, who beat Liège. After a first half during which they were put in difficulty by the Liégeoises (31-32, 20′), Cylia DUCOULOMBIER (13 points, 6 assists) and the Courtraisiennes were able to reverse the trend during the third act (22-9) and then continued to push the Panthers to go towards a very comfortable victory.
Namur continues to play the leading roles. On the Charleroi field, the Namuroises remained serious during this match, although held by the locals (38-40, 20′), who however lowered their flag in the last 10 minutes. Braine, for her part, had fun in front of her audience, like two players who scored a double-double, namely Quay MILLER (14 points, 10 rebounds) and Floor TOONDERS (12 points, 10 rebounds). In great form, the Castors were therefore unplayable and it was Brunehaut who paid the price. Yesterday afternoon, it was Brainoises’ great rival, Mechelen, which pulled out all the stops in front of its audience. Around a Tahya Hanson sparkling (33 points, 9 rebounds) or even It’s DEBELJAK who was not to be outdone (22 points, 5 rebounds), the Kangoeroes never gave the Gantoises the slightest chance of being able to stand up to them in this match which could be described as David against Goliath, without wishing to offend to visitors.
