With 300 campsitesVendée is the department number one on a national level. It is an essential sector for the tourism and attracts many French and foreigners every year, particularly in Sables-d’Olonne. The campsites of the seaside town, which mostly opened their doors at the start of the summer holidays Easterexpect a great 2024 season, with the Vendée Globe culminating on November 10.

Pentecost and Ascension: already full!

After an Easter weekend rather calmdue in particular to the bad weather conditionsthe campsites are full for the two long weekends in May, confirms Franck Chadeaupresident of the Vendée Outdoor Hotel Federation.

“We are expecting two big weekends with Ascension Thursday on May 9 and Pentecost weekend from May 17 to 20. All campsites are almost full in Les Sables-d’Olonne for these two periods. »

Franck Chadeau, director of the La Dune des Sables campsite.

Same story from François Arnould, boss of the Le Bel Air campsite, who confirmed that the establishment is complete over this period.

For this summerthe occupancy rate has already reached 80% for the establishments already mentioned.

The Vendée Globe in sight

Difficult, if not impossible, not to talk about the event that everyone is waiting for in Les Sables-d’Olonne in 2024: the Vendée Globewhich will end the camping season with a bang.

Renowned for being the most difficult race for solo sailors, the Everest of the seas always attracts a large number of visitors.

Teleworking…on vacation!

The month of June corresponds to the start of summer but is not as busy a period as the months of July and August, when several campsites in Les Sables-d’Olonne are already full.
However, like the month of September, it can represent two advantages: more tranquility and a lower price. And some understood it well! “We have more and more reservations in June and September. Since Covid, we have had a very good workload, teleworking has helped us a lot. People come to telework in the campsite! I’m not sure that they perform very well but what matters is that they are there,” smiles François Arnould, director of the Le Bel Air campsite.

And, this year, most campsites have decided to extend the adventure until November 10, the start date of the race in Les Sables-d’Olonne.

“It’s an incredible event. It’s the best advertising spot that we can have for Vendée. For us, the year following the Vendée Globe is historically a great success. He has a real impact on reservations», observes François Arnould, who privatized Le Bel Air for the Lantana Environnement group of skipper Louis Duc for the occasion.

“Today, I think it must be almost impossible to book at this time,” he adds.

“Rental, at the campsite The Sand Dune we are almost complete, there are mainly camper van pitches left,” confirms Franck Chadeau.

For his part, the little Parisindicates that there are still places left to stay and attend the unmissable event of the year in Les Sables-d’Olonne.
