Dakar, May 8 (APS) – Fifty-nine Senegalese soldiers received their TAP (airborne troop/paratrooper) certificate on Wednesday in Dakar, following training jointly organized by the French and Senegalese armed forces.

The recipients received these TAP certificates from the hands of Brigadier General Etienne du Peyroux, commander of the French Elements in Senegal (EFS), responsible for the military partnership throughout the ECOWAS zone. The ceremony was held on the sidelines of the commemoration of the date of May 8, 1945, marking the German capitulation during the Second World War.

The delivery of this TAP patent marks the culmination of a “training sequence of around ten days”, which took place in the “Frédéric Geille” district of the French Elements military base in Senegal, with jumps in parachute carried out in the Rose Lake area,” explained Brigadier General Etienne du Peyroux.

According to him, this training for the benefit of Senegalese soldiers allowed “a strengthening of cooperation in very technical training activities, exchanges of skills and military culture” and clearly shows the quality of “exchanges between the two armies.”

Based on this observation, he believes that “our armies need to work together”, stressing that it is “from this work together when we are allies, that we draw factors for progress”.
