After the departure announced by Kévin Smolarczyk at the end of the season, the SUA began looking for a new coach to replace him.

A month ago, Kévin Smolarczyk announced in our columns his departure from SU Agen. News that surprised many within the club to which Johan Jourdan, the president, returned. “We have not agreed on the terms of renewal. This was not necessarily planned unfortunately. »

An elder of the house to ensure a form of continuity

Disagreements which therefore led to a separation, and an uncertain end to the season at the sporting level. Indeed, the SUA, currently leader of its Regional 3 group with two points ahead but one more match than Stade Montois, is more than ever in the fight for accession to Regional 2 with only two days remaining. of the championship.

So, the SUA looked for a new coach. And he found it, in the person of Mohamed El Hassnaoui, a well-known name from Agenais. Born in Agen, he had been at FC Rives 82 (Golfech – Regional 1) for seven years where he finished his playing career before becoming assistant coach of team one three years ago alongside another former Agen player. Alban Pothet.

Above all, it is a history having participated in the rise of Honor in CFA2 in 2005 then having experienced the best years of the SUA for ten years, including the epics in the Coupe de France before his departure to Marmande in January 2015. “He’s an elder in the house. We know him well. This is part of our desire to reconnect with the club’s alumni,” continues Jourdan. Aged 40, El Hassnaoui had already moved closer to his former club as part of the centenary in 2022 and the debut of his son, licensed to Agen. “It wasn’t necessarily planned, but it was a great opportunity,” notes the SUA president.

Director of a temp agency in the southern area of ​​Agen, the future coach will be associated with Damien Carmaux, and will take advantage of this new challenge to pass the Football Coaching Certificate (BEF). It now remains to know the division in which the Agenais will play, even if this will not necessarily change much for Johan Jourdan. “The objective is above all to preserve the current structure. »
