Two members of the Food Response movement carried out a “happening” on Wednesday May 8, in front of Eugène Delacroix’s masterpiece, “Liberty Leading the People”.

Posters and a slogan. This Wednesday, May 8, at the Louvre Museum in Paris, two members of Riposte Alimentaire took advantage of the return of Eugène Delacroix’s painting, “Liberty Leading the People”, to carry out a “happening” with a view to demanding “social security sustainable food.

The two activists notably pasted posters on the wall, a few centimeters from the painting, before chanting slogans inciting “civil resistance”. On the posters it was written “resisting is vital”.

Through these slogans, the movement believes that it is “vital” to demand this “social security of sustainable food”, based on a system close to that of health insurance.

“150 euros per month”

This request translates concretely into obtaining for every citizen, “regardless of their social condition, a vital food card worth 150 euros per month”. The card would then be a means of purchasing basic necessities “agreed and democratically selected”.

Everything would operate on a social contribution basis compared to that of health insurance, “with funds self-managed by citizens”.

“The right to food is recognized by international law. Riposte Alimentaire wants to ensure it is respected in practice, thanks to Social Security for Sustainable Food,” concludes the movement in a press release unveiling the action plan which he requests from the State.
