The theme of the spring festivities changes every year in Emerchicourt in the North. After the basketball theme in 2023, it is the medieval festival which arrives at a gallop and with force of chivalry.
The festivities will start on Saturday May 11, with the flea market which will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., rue Pablo Picasso in Emerchicourt in the North. In the afternoon from 2:30 p.m., at the playground, there will be €250 in prizes to be won during the pétanque competition reserved for residents and members of associations.
Medieval day
On Sunday, May 12, the medieval camp will be set up with workshops all day long, making chain mail, combat demonstrations, medieval dances and various activities. Little ones can enjoy pony rides and inflatable structures.
At noon, the aperitif will be entertained by the harmony of the Auberchicourt Miners while at 2:30 p.m. a show of knight training through equestrian games will be given with dressage figures and acrobatic aerobatics by the troop The Bel Harnois.
From 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., you can attend the show The Apprentice Knights, introduction to combat strategies and battles for children. A chivalry tournament is planned at 5:30 p.m. The Last Joust, an interactive show with fights between several knights in chain mail and riders on horses in caparisons, impressive stunts, jousting duels with broken lances.
The medieval banquet
Before the new municipality, the municipal festival had a name considered too trivial and dialectic on the pig, which is nevertheless at the center of the seigniorial coat of arms of the city. At the medieval banquet, it will always be the main course. For children: potato parsley, plain tabbouleh, creamed cucumbers, grated carrots. For adults: spit-grilled pork, Meaux brie and sugar tart.
