After a delay due to the recent covid pandemic, the municipality joined the twinning committee of Argentré and Louvigné in 2023. We wanted to mark this membership with a strong moment within our municipality,”

This is how 60 people, gathered around Lydie Deuil, president of the twinning committee, Barbara Held and Willi Flach, presidents of the German committee of the town of Babenhausen, and mayors of the three municipalities, attended the construction of the Maypole, 16 m high. It is a German tradition which welcomes the arrival of spring and symbolizes the work of artisans. This mast was decorated by the volunteers of the committee, with the support of the technical services of the town hall, and erected with a basket in the town hall park.

This integration of Soulgé into the twinning committee is also highlighted with the installation of a sculpture by Laurent Sémerie, local artist, which symbolizes the rapprochement of German and French municipalities.
This day, not spared by the rain, but rich in meaning, ended in a convivial manner at the town hall, with the tasting of German beers and cakes (apfelstrudel).
