Mauricie Project: TES Canada company reduces the number of wind turbines to 130

The company TES Canada has reduced the number of wind turbines it wants to build in Mauricie from 144 to 130. The number of wind turbines could fall even further.

“The goal is to keep wind turbines away from residences. So, there is a huge amount of work being done by our engineering teams to position the wind turbines as far away as possible from homes and people,” explains the CEO of TES Canada, Éric Gauthier.

To meet the needs of citizens, the company added an area with the aim of avoiding agricultural areas.

In recent days, TES Canada officials have met with municipal elected officials to discuss wind turbines. Meetings which reassure the mayor of the municipality of Saint-Narcisse, Guy Veillette “We were able to see much more interesting distances from the residences. Above all, they presented us with a map which appeared to us to be much more realistic on the potential locations of wind turbines in our territories,” says Mr. Veilette.

A new detailed map of areas where wind turbines could be built will be revealed next week. An information office will also be available in Shawinigan in July.
