He has a gray complexion, the color of ash in the box. Is it the cocaine, or the skin grafts? The 47-year-old man who appeared this Tuesday, May 7 before the Périgueux court was burned on 21% of his body. He spent a month in the burns department of the Bordeaux University Hospital. But he doesn’t seem to realize what he’s done.
At the beginning of March, he had been out of prison for less than 24 hours, when he had a fit of jealousy at his girlfriend because she had gone shopping alone. He takes the rubbing alcohol under the sink and sprinkles the whole room, saying to him: “I’m going to burn you.” He lights a lighter.

But the blue flames reach the hair of his companion, he throws himself on it to put it out and it is he who catches fire through his clothes. The man rushes into the shower. He goes down to the tobacconist to ask for help, saying that he “burnt with the barbecue”.
The girlfriend in question was not seriously burned. She did not file a complaint. She still wants to be with him, she even called him at the hospital. And when the police arrested him, at the beginning of April, the man had just left against the advice of his doctors to take a TER to join her in Périgueux.
His partner does not file a complaint
“Madame was very lucky”thunders the prosecutor, who assures that this man is “a danger to society”. At 47 years old, he has never worked in his lifeapart from one month, on trial, as a mason: “And what did you do with those 47 years?”asks the president: “I walked around”.
Parquet requires three years in prison, the court follows him. The judges ordered the defendant’s continued detention at the end of the hearing.
