The movement to occupy university buildings by pro-Palestinian students is spreading to Geneva. The Palestine-University of Geneva Student Coordination (CEP-UnigGe) took over the Uni Mail hall on Tuesday at 12 p.m., with tables, chairs and sofas.

Many Palestinian flags are displayed on all floors of the building, as well as banners with the messages: “Free Palestine, stop genocide” and “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”. At lunch break, many students are there to eat.

Debate: is the occupation of UNIGE legitimate?

The CEP-UniGe sent a letter to the rectorate asking it to take a position on the genocide perpetrated in Gaza and the need for an immediate ceasefire. She also calls for an end to links between UNIGE and Israeli universities.

The student coordination for Palestine was in negotiations with UniGe at the end of the afternoon with the firm intention of spending the night there and occupying the premises until a dialogue opens with the rectorate .
