See you in 8 years on the Camélat bridge

Jean Dionis mentioned the birth of a railway bridge, right next to that of Camélat. It is planned in the Grand South-West Rail Project (GPSO).

“A bit like in Patrick Bruel’s song, I’ll see you in 8 years. Same place on the Camélat bridge, same day, same time. » Saturday May 4, 2024, with Prime Minister Gabriel Attal at his side, superstar of the day and selfie machine, Jean Dionis took advantage of the inauguration of the Camélat bridge to share, without breaking his voice, a vision.

“Our gaze must look even further into the distance,” he said in front of a packed crowd, “with Agen becoming ever more of a crossroads in 2032, the date of the entry into circulation of the first TGVs on the Bordeaux-Toulouse high-speed line. Today, I am sharing with you the birth of my little brother. It will be there right next to the Camélat bridge. It will provide a connection between the Brax-Roquefort LGV station and the Agen city center station. You do not believe in it ? Don’t be like those who didn’t believe in Camellat: you would be wrong! “.

Who will be the Agen mayor in the TER shuttle between the new station and Agen station?

In 8 years, will Jean Dionis still be the mayor of Agen and the president of the urban area who will board the TER shuttle between the new station and Agen station? Or will he only have one hat left, that of president of Agglo Agen? In any case, “the little brother”, this railway bridge next to that of Camélat, has been in the pipeline for several years for the Grand South-West Rail Project (GPSO).

The new LGV station, the cost of which is around €100 million, must be built in the immediate vicinity of the Agen Garonne Technopole and the Agropole. The agglomeration has anticipated the rail service between the LGV station and the Agen center station by having, for example, adapted the Camélat bridge project to leave space for the creation of this railway bridge over the Garonne.

The new LGV line should connect Agen to Bordeaux and Toulouse in less than 30 minutes, compared to 1 hour 10 minutes currently. Paris will only be 2 hours 45 minutes from the Agen metropolitan area compared to 3 hours 15 minutes currently. Time savings which, according to pro-LGV, will accelerate the economic development of the area and give it a demographic boost.
And in 8 years, what will have become of Gabriel Attal?
